  1. Open Control Panel:

    • Press Windows Key + S, type Control Panel, and press Enter.
  2. Go to Programs and Features:

    • In the Control Panel, select Programs and then Programs and Features.
  3. Find Microsoft Office:

    • Scroll through the list of installed programs and find Microsoft Office (e.g., Microsoft 365 or Office 2019/2021 depending on your version).
  4. Uninstall Office:

    • Right-click on Microsoft Office and select Uninstall.
    • Follow the prompts to uninstall the program. This process will remove Office from your computer but won’t affect your personal files like Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
  5. Restart Your Computer:

    • After the uninstallation is complete, restart your computer to make sure all changes are applied.

Remove Leftover Office Files

Sometimes, leftover files can interfere with the new installation. This step is optional but can help ensure a clean install.

  1. Navigate to the Office Folder:

    • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\ and press Enter.
    • If you have Office 32-bit installed on a 64-bit system, you might also want to check %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\.
  2. Delete Office Folder:

    • If the Microsoft Office folder still exists, you can safely delete it.
  3. Clear AppData:

    • Press Windows Key + R again, type %AppData%, and press Enter.
    • In the opened folder, navigate to Microsoft > Office.
    • If there’s any leftover data in this folder, delete it (this won’t affect your personal data, only app-related data).
  4. Clear Registry Keys (Optional, for Advanced Users):

    • If you’re comfortable with advanced steps, you can clean the registry. Be very careful with this, as incorrectly modifying the registry can cause issues.
    • Press Windows Key + R, type regedit, and press Enter.
    • In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office and delete the Office folder.
    • Repeat the same for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office.

After this, restart your system again to ensure all remnants of the old Office installation are removed.

Reinstall Microsoft Office

Now that Office is uninstalled, follow these steps to reinstall it:

  1. Go to the Microsoft Office Website:

  2. Sign In to Your Microsoft Account:

    • Click on Sign In in the top right corner and enter your Microsoft account credentials (the account you used to purchase or subscribe to Microsoft 365).
  3. Go to the Office Apps Page:

    • Once signed in, you’ll be taken to your Microsoft 365 account page. Click on Install Office at the top of the page.
  4. Download the Office Installer:

    • Click on Office 365 apps to start downloading the installer (or the appropriate version, depending on your subscription).
  5. Run the Installer:

    • Once the installer is downloaded, open it to begin the installation process.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to install Office. This will typically involve letting the installer run and finishing the installation.
  6. Wait for the Installation to Complete:

    • The process may take a few minutes, depending on your internet speed and system performance.

Activate Office

Once Office is reinstalled:

  1. Open an Office Application:

    • Open any Office application (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  2. Sign In:

    • When prompted, sign in with your Microsoft account (the one tied to your Office subscription or purchase). This will activate the apps.
  3. Check for Updates:

    • Once Office is installed, make sure it’s up to date. Go to File > Account (or Office Account) in any Office app, and click Update Options > Update Now.
